A multiplicity of Churches in the Middle East:THE CHALCEDONIAN CHURCHES – Maronite Church,Eastern Rite Catholic Churches: Armenian, Chaldean,Coptic, Etiopian,Melkite and Syrian.Eastern Orthodox Churches: Patriarchates of Antioch, Jerusalem and Alexandria. THE NON-CHALCEDONIAN CHURCHES – The Oriental Orthodox Churches- Armenian, Coptic, Eritrean,Ethiopian,Syrian The Assyrian Church of the East and Ancient Church of the East.

The Christians in Iraq have lived for aboud 2000 years.According to tradition Christianity was first preached there by St. Thomas on his way to India. In Bible Mosul is called Nineveh. Most Iraqi Christians are Chaldeans, Eastern Catholic, some of whom still speak Aramaic
