I am where you are - project

The Project  “I am where you are”   Educational Directive is coordinated by the FAW with the assistance of a dedicated volunteer base.

FAW( Anna Walczyk Foundation) seeks to promote the future well being of displaced children in Middle East, specifically by supporting the education of Kurdish children that are displaced along the border of Turkey, Syria and Iraq.

The Iraq/Syrian crisis is the largest crisis in out time. The number and rapidity of the crisis overwhelm the NGO’s that normally serve the refugees in such situations. A large group of Kurdish Christians, living in abject poverty, has been forgotten by major humanitarian organizations. We will bring humanitarian aid to displaced families living outside refugee camps.

We believe that education is one of the most important things in life, promoting individual freedom and empowerment. In Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq) there is no shortage of schools, but the poor families lack money to send their children to school or support their education.

The co-organizer of the photo exhibition “I am where you are”, Medya Mara Shikhagaie is the co-founder of our new project. She has previously brought humanitarian aid to Kurdistan region and she will be responsible for driving the project among the Kurdish diaspora. FAW has extensive experience in working in Middle East including supporting the Christians from Qarakosh and Qamishli.

FAW will be sending a team including the co-founders of the organization to personally meet with children and provide them with school supplies. We seek to facilitate their educational needs and to help their families with basic necessities that allow for childhood development.

We will keep you  informed about the selection of our target group as well as specify our support from local volunteers, including students and medical doctors with congruent interests.
